US Bomb Tech Association Opening Adds to Indian Head Revitalization

May 22, 2025 was an exciting day for the town of Indian Head as the United States Bomb Tech Association celebrated the completion of its new location with an impressive Ribbon Cutting Ceremony. The multi-use building has been in progress since 2022 when it was acquired by USBTA to relocate their headquarter operations from Colorado to Charles County, Maryland. Charitable Trust Staff were in attendance along with numerous other community partners and supporters, state, and local government officials, all credited in assisting with the completion of this project. A big move for the multi-million-dollar nonprofit organization that works closely with military personnel and the government, but also an exciting advancement for the town of Indian Head. The USBTA building will bring many new jobs to the area and joins a new grocery store, ice cream shop, and Boys and Girls Club all recently opening in the town, showing positive signs of growth.

The United States Bomb Technician Association (USBTA) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting bomb disposal professionals across the United States. Founded in 2016 and now headquartered in Indian Head, Maryland, USBTA serves both military Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) personnel and public safety bomb technicians. Its mission is to enhance safety and operational effectiveness through training, technology evaluation, and community support.

The Charitable Trust proudly joins other key partners in financially supporting this project. The Trust awarded USBTA a grant of Project Restore 2.0 funds via Maryland Department of Housing and Community Development for rental assistance on this property. For this grant, Charles County businesses completed applications, financial reviews, and impact statements to compete for funding allocated to open new business locations in Maryland’s “sustainable community” areas, an effort to promote growth and sustainability in Maryland’s neighborhoods. USBTA is one of 4 Charles County businesses receiving a Project Restore 2.0 grant via the Charitable Trust in partnership with Charles County Economic Development Department.

Complete with a robot dispatched to cut the ribbon, the ceremony was a well attended affair that included networking, lunch, speeches from key officials from across the state, and tours of the new facility. The Charitable Trust is proud to support this business opening that will enhance the community and economy of western Charles County.
