Liberty International Ministries, located in Waldorf, is launching vital new services for Charles County women and families in 2026. Charitable Trust Staff caught up with their leaders last month to get all the details. The ministry, which opened its doors in 2018, is excited to launch their new role as a broader community provider in the fields of early childhood development, maternal health and wellness, and family mental health services.
Their new location in Hughesville will be called the PIVOT Family Resource Center and will house a multitude of family services including maternal and perinatal support, mental health services for the whole family, and resources for continued family health and stability, including housing, food, and transportation benefits navigation. Liberty Cheney, Founder of the ministry, tells the Trust their mission is to “bridge the gap by building on the services Charles County already has” and increasing those supports and resources. Cheney notes specifically seeing a lack of in-person mental health services in the county and wants to add therapy/counseling resources both in-person and virtually through the mental health component of the new location, which will be titled “PIVOT Forward.”
Additionally, Libby’s Busy Bee Academy, to be located within the PIVOT Family Resource Center in Hughesville, will be Charles County’s newest early childhood development program. Pre-school aged children will receive safe and structured care, early education foundations, and social-emotional development. Licensing and approvals are in progress, but they are expected to be open for enrollment well in advance of the Fall 2026 school year.
