Charitable Trust Staff were honored to attend the first graduation ceremony for Spring Dell Center’s new Career Bridges Program. The Career Bridges Program is an internship initiative that empowers adults with disabilities through an intensive 9 months of hands-on work experience, personalized support, and the tools they need to succeed in the workplace. Career Bridges is committed to fostering a supportive and inclusive environment where participants can build confidence, enhance their skills, and explore career opportunities. This new program, funded in part by a grant from the Charitable Trust, prepares participants with skills that match labor needs in today’s integrated workforce.
Held in front of a packed house at Spring Dell Center on May 2nd, the ceremony began with an upbeat Fashion Show by participants and staff. Each member of the program sported business attire to show off their professionalism and individual personalities. Information was presented about the Career Bridges curriculum, and each graduate was awarded a certificate celebrating their success in completing the 9-month program. The six graduates are now prepared to secure employment and 2 graduates are already working at local businesses!
The Charitable Trust was also presented with a special certificate of gratitude for providing funding to make the Career Bridges Program a reality. Each Fiscal Year, the Charitable Trust’s Staff and Board members go through a rigorous process of collecting and reviewing applications from nonprofits across Charles County. Board members make final funding decisions on which organizations receive funding based on the needs of the county, the level of positive impact to be made, and other pertinent factors. The Charitable Trust then follows up on how the funding is spent to improve the quality of life for citizens in Charles County. The Career Bridges Program at Spring Dell Center is one example of a life changing, community enhancing program the Trust is proud to fund.
